Where would you like to start?

Three starting points, depending on what you are looking for. Each one takes you to the courses that suit you best.

FOR EVERYONE

I want to understand my genes and my diet

Find out what your DNA can, and cannot, tell you about the way you eat. No science background needed.

Start with: Your DNA and AI (free) · Personalised nutrition based on your genes

FOR PROFESSIONALS

I work in health or nutrition

Bring genetic and nutritional data into your practice with sound judgement, and explain it to your patients honestly.

Start with: Introduction to Nutrigenomics · Nutrigenomics for health professionals

FOR RESEARCHERS

I work with health data

Build the statistical, machine learning and genomic skills that today's health research relies on.

Start with: Data science for health · Then: Genomics and applied AI

HOW WE TEACH

Evidence, not hype

“DNA diets”, miracle tests and AI promises are everywhere. Some are backed by solid research. Many are not.

Every CESGEN course is designed to help you tell them apart: what the published evidence really shows, where it stops, and how to use it responsibly with real people. That is the thread running through everything we teach, from how a gene works to a predictive model built on thousands of patients.

MEET YOUR INSTRUCTOR

Dr David de Lorenzo

David de Lorenzo holds a PhD in genetics and works where genetics, biostatistics, epidemiology and machine learning meet. He has held research and teaching posts in Houston, Munich, Lleida and London, led R&D in the genetic testing industry and is now a senior data scientist in health research in the UK. He has taught nutrigenomics online since 2014, when he designed some of the first online courses on the subject in Spanish. As the founder of CESGEN, he trains nutrition and health professionals to interpret genetic and nutritional data critically and apply it in practice, combining scientific rigour with clear explanations and real cases.

What learners say

Reviews posted on Udemy by learners on the course “Introduction to Nutrigenomics and Personalised Nutrition” (2017–2020), translated from Spanish. Average 4.4 out of 5 from 82 ratings.

“A very good course. I was looking for something different in nutrition that would test what I already knew and ‘make’ me take notes, concentrate and study. […] Congratulations, I have learnt a great deal.”

Regina P. · Udemy, 2019

“As an undergraduate nutrition student, I found the applications of nutrigenomics very interesting, and I was able to use this course alongside my university classes. I understood more of the subject from this course than from a lecturer in the classroom.”

Arturo S. · Udemy, 2018

“Very useful for students of human nutrition and dietetics. I think this field has a great professional future if we manage to apply it in healthcare.”

Monica C. · Udemy, 2018

“The doctor explains a complex subject in a very approachable, friendly and instructive way.”

José S. · Udemy, 2018

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a science or programming background?

It depends on the course. “For everyone” courses need no prior knowledge. “For professionals” courses are designed for people who work or train in nutrition or health. The data courses explain every tool from first principles.

Will a course tell me what to eat?

No. Our courses are educational. They explain the evidence and how to use it responsibly, but they do not replace advice from a doctor, dietitian or genetic counsellor who knows your situation.

What language are the courses in?

In English. Some courses also have a Spanish edition, which is a separate course: it is bought separately, and buying one does not give access to the other.

Do prices include VAT?

Prices are shown with VAT included. Before you pay, you will see the exact amount with the taxes that apply in your country and to your situation (individual or business), which may be lower. You will receive an invoice for every purchase.

How long do I have access to a course?

You have access for 120 days from enrolment, at your own pace and on any device.

Will I receive a certificate?

Yes. When you finish a course you receive a CESGEN certificate of completion. It is not an official qualification, does not award continuing professional development credits and does not qualify you to practise any profession.
